The Marion Women’s Business Council (WBC) will once again support the Marion Junior Service Guild’s Christmas Clearinghouse in several different ways.
The Christmas Clearinghouse will provide Christmas and needed supplies to well over 400 families in the Marion area. In November, members attending the luncheon are asked to bring non-perishable food items; personal items such as shampoo, deodorant or toothpaste; or cleaning supplies like laundry detergent, toilet paper or hand soap.
WBC member Diane Morgan is also running for Peanut Queen again this year. The WMRN peanut push is an annual event held the first Saturday of December each year with the goal to raise money for the Christmas Clearinghouse. The event is presided over by royalty, and the winner for each royal position is chosen by the number of votes they gather. Votes are garnered through donations: $1 = 1 vote. Morgan will have a table at the November meeting “campaigning” for votes. All monies donated go to purchasing needed items for those in need this Christmas.
For the December meeting, members are encouraged bring a new, unwrapped item for children, age newborn to 17. Items may include toys, hats, gloves, scarves, books, games, etc.
Set for Monday, November 12, the WBC’s November meeting will feature Lieutenant B J Gruber of the Marion City Police Department outlining how they are “Making an MPACT” in our city. This initiative is an outreach program designed to create more opportunities for positive interaction between police and local residents, primarily teens and young children. In fact, the program has made such an “MPACT” that even the White House took notice.
Slated for the organization’s Monday, December 10, meeting is a inspiring program from Brock Meadows.
Both of these Marion Women’s Business Council luncheon meetings will be from 11:30 to 1:00. The MPACT meeting will be held at All Occasions Banquet Center, 6989 Waldo-Delaware Rd (Rt. 423 just south of Waldo). We will be in the Delaware Room, on the north side of the main building. Please note that this is a change from our normal meeting location. The December meeting will be held at our normal location in the Guthery Room at Maynard Hall on the Ohio State University at Marion campus.
Reservations are $13 and must be received by Wednesday, November 7, for the November meeting. They can be made by sending an email to mrn.wbc@gmail.com or by calling Cindi Bentley, Membership Co-Chair, at 740-396-0197. Guests are always welcome with an RSVP.
The Marion Women’s Business Council’s mission is to inspire women to reach their full potential through mentoring, networking, education, and recognition. WBC luncheons are held the second Monday of each month, September through May. Anyone interested in joining may browse our website for a membership application and a complete program schedule.
